Watch The War on Drugs cover Neil Young in Toronto
When in Toronto, cover Neil Young. At least, that must’ve been what The War on Drugs were thinking when they paid tribute to the legendary Young in his hometown with a rendition of “Like A Hurricane.” Lucky for us, the moment was captured on video, which you can watch below.
As great as Philly favorites The War on Drugs are on their own, they’re also masters of covering the work of others. The band recently performed Tom Petty’s “Time To Move On” at a show in Los Angeles.
“Like A Hurricane” appears on Neil Young’s 1977 album American Stars ‘n Bars. The War on Drugs’ energetically performed version is a moving tribute to the influential artist, and judging by the video, the audience was as glad as we are to see the classic track reimagined by one of our favorite bands.
We last saw The War on Drugs in town when they headlined Connor Barwin’s Make The World Better Foundation benefit concert at the Dell Music Center last month — read The Key’s review of that show here. Their latest album A Deeper Understanding is out now, and you can revisit their recent World Cafe session here.
