Chris Kasper shows his dark side with Halloween-inspired video “Ballad of The Burning House”
Folk rock crooner Chris Kasper rings in Halloween weekend with a spooky new video for an old song, “Ballad of The Burning House,” from his 2013 album Bagabones.
With heavy blues chord progressions, “Ballad of the Burning House” takes elements from Americana and folk; Paired with Kasper’s gravely rasp, it has an eerie appeal to it.
The über-creative video cuts between shots of Kasper singing in front of a flaming red and orange backdrop and the starkly different angle on mannequins reeling back from a literally burning house. The stop motion effect at times lines up with the syncopated rhythm of the song in a more than successful attempt to make the mannequins and the burning house image come alive.
Kasper will be playing at Underground Arts with The Lawsuits and Chelsea Mitchell on November 11, tickets and more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar. Watch the “Ballad of the Burning House” video below.
