Swearin’ is getting back together and touring with Superchunk next spring
Here’s some news we didn’t see coming: beloved Philly punks Swearin’, who broke up in 2015 after a several-year run, are reuniting. They’ll be joining indie rock icons Superchunk on the road next spring for a string of shows, and lucky for us the tour includes a stop at Union Transfer on April 4.
Swearin’ co-frontperson Allison Crutchfield shared the news on Instagram this morning, stating: “…I’m truly so psyched to tell you all…that Jeff [Bolt] and Kyle [Gilbride] and I have decided to do Swearin’ again. They’re both so special to me, and I really can’t wait to begin a new era of this band.” Crutchfield, who recently moved from Philly to LA, released her first solo album Tourist in This Town earlier this year and has been on the road lately as part of the touring lineup of her sister Katie Crutchfield’s band Waxahatchee.
This news comes alongside the announcement of Superchunk’s upcoming 12th album, What A Time To Be Alive, due out Feb. 16 via Merge Records.
Swearin’ joined us in the studio for an Indie Rock Hit Parade Session in 2013, around the time of the release of their second album Surfing Strange. Revisit the session below.
