Fried Monk showcases two new instrumentals filled with hot 808s and capable hip hop features

Germantown hip hop producer Fried Monk released two new beats this week, each track featuring a Philly based MC. With instrumentals resembling those of jazz-infused producers like Jake One and DJ Shadow, Fried Monk is starting to make a name for himself as a producer on top of garnering for his engineering abilities with the Sleeless Sound crew.

Monk’s music background is mostly as a studio drummer, and his beats reflect this because of their complex live percussion loops. The two most recent cuts that Monk has put out are part of an EP called Left For Dead. Monk recruited Buddy Leezle to spit some catchy bars on the first intrumental “The Old Man” that includes a synth-heavy backbeat with a distorted keyboard loop driving the song forward. Fried Monk gets a bit weirder on “Harold” by incorporating some spooky vocals from Mistress 9.
