It’s been a big news week for Philadelphia’s Eric Slick. Not only did his full-time band, Dr. Dog, announce their tenth LP with a brilliant brooder of a single, Eric’s solo project had a nice showing as well with the new song “Hesitation.”

The song, which is part of Amazon’s Love Me Not Valentine’s Day playlist due out on February 9, thumps and grooves in a 70s blue-eyed soul sway (think Hall & Oates or Seals and Crofts). As Slick told the folks over at Brooklyn Vegan:

This song is my first foray into writing about a break up. It’s a topic I wanted to avoid for a long time. What a cliché thing to write about! Sometimes you have to write what you feel. It may be harder to do, but the truth will set you free. Another cliché!

Slick’s only solo show on the calendar is a gig at New York City’s Mercury Lounge tonight; however, he did just help announce a huge Dr. Dog tour that brings the band to Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing on Saturday, June 23rd. Details on that show at the XPN Concert Calendar, full dates can be found here.
