Philly Doomgaze band Dreamswell recently dropped a new music video for “Temporary,” the first track released off forthcoming EP Act 2. Contradictory in nature, Deamswell mixes multiple layers of light, lush guitars and vocals with heavy, dark drums to create a tidal wave of sound that crashes with every syncopated hit. The music video for “Temporary,” filmed and edited by the omnipresent Philly filmmaker Bob Sweeney, plays into the contradiction of light and dark.

Filmed in the half-light of the Fleisher Art Memorial Chapel, the video features a yellow-green tint that makes the aura in the chapel nearly as woozy (though still tranquil) as the accompanying music. Spotlights beam through thick smoke in the back half of the music video, as the band appears in and out of focus throughout the instrumental breakdown. Like water receding after a heavy storm, the song calmly fades out as the band dons the same masks that appeared on the cover of their debut EP, Act 1.

View the music video below, and check out the flyer for the band’s upcoming stacked EP release show / art show / Planned Parenthood benefit show. South Broad Street’s Boot & Saddle plays host to the event on Sunday, January 28th; more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
