Listen to Girlpool’s new track “Picturesong” ahead of next weekend’s Church show
Our favorite former Philadelphians Girlpool return to town for a show at the First Unitarian Church next weekend, and if that wasn’t enough good news, they’ve also released a brand-new track. “Picturesong” comes as a collaboration with Blood Orange‘s Dev Hynes, who lent not only backing vocals, but keyboard, guitars and mixing to the song.
“Picturesong” is Girlpool’s first release since last year’s Powerplant LP. It’s a bit eerier and fuzzier than their normal stuff, but still features the duo’s signature harmonies in full force. Girlpool says of the track, “picturesong is a word invented to explore what we create in each other when we want to feel deep love because of loneliness or otherwise, and brings into question the reality and delusion of the things we feel.”
Girlpool headlines the First Unitarian Church Saturday, Feb. 10, with support from Land of Talk (solo) and Palberta. Find tickets and more information on the XPN Concert Calendar.
