Very Bad Vibes explores self-awareness and experimental sounds on new LP
Very Bad Vibes is back with their second album House and Home, and following in the tradition of their previous LP Toothpaste, it’s a delightfully colorful and upbeat collection of tunes. Songwriter Sam Huntington appears in a few Philly bands (The Original Crooks and Nannies, AllegrA) but has been releasing solo music under the Very Bad Vibes moniker for a few years now, always managing to weave together songs that intricately balance deep introspection and sheer catchiness.
Huntington released a video for the single “Call Me Cool” last month, and the new album follows it in infectious synthy strangeness (seriously, just wait til you get to “Chocolate Syrup”). Every song is unexpected in all the best ways — listen below as Huntington launches through a 12-track exploration filled with self-awareness and experimental sounds.
Very Bad Vibes’ next Philly show is Feb. 21 at Tralfamadore with Coping Skills, Candy Boys and Julia Rainer. Find more information here.
