Lady Alma, Ursula Rucker, Jacqueline Constance and more bring the love to Kimmel Center’s Valentines Day edition of Sittin’ In
Need last minute Valentines Day plans? The Kimmel Center’s regular Sittin In live session is back with a lineup curated by jazz bassist Anthony Tidd and featuring lots of awesome Philly artists like poet Ursula Rucker, singer Lady Alma, experimental sound-looper Jacquline Constance, guitarist Tim Motzer, plus Range da Messenger, Chartel Findlater, Lee Mo, Luke O’Reilly, and Mario Crew.
It also happens to be the 6th anniversary of the Kimmel’s Sittin In, and they hope to channel some historic Philly party energy.
Our 6th anniversary will bring all of these great performers together for what can only be described as one huge jam session/party extravaganza, reminiscent of Wilhelmina’s, Back 2 Basics, Black Lilly, etc.
The show begins at 9 p.m. and is completely free! RSVP and find more information here.
For additional Valentine’s vibes — Rucker narrates a new Pandora playlist put together by Roots drummer Questlove that just dropped last night. Named “Heartbreak Road” for the Bill Withers song, Quest says it’s for “the broken-hearted. The lonely. The cheated on. The long distant lovers. The secret lovers. The sweetest taboos. The if loving you is wrong, we might be kilt 2nite. Those on the verge of a breakup. The sad. The trapped. Those without a valentine that just wanna cry and mope.” Listen here, and check out some of tonight’s #whoissittinin artists below.
