Philly son Eric Jamal puts in work from the west coast
2018 is looking very bright for the City of Brotherly Love not just because Philadelphia’s green and white Eagles are now Super Bowl champions, but there seems to be an abundance of good music coming out the Philadelphia region. Music artist such as Shawn Smith, Dayne Jordan, Beano, Tierra Whack, Sunnie, Ivy Sole, James Weldon, No Headliner, Doug C Jr and plenty more continue to provide the tri-state area with incredible dope music. Hip hop artist Eric Jamal is working extremely hard all the way from California to also put on for his city with his new video “Work Harder.”
“Work Harder” shows that North Philly’s own Eric Jamal is indeed nasty on the microphone. The production, thanks to Bryant Morrison, is set up for Jamal to get on the track and spazz out, and that’s exactly what he does. His wordplay and metaphors mixed with his hometown’s blue-collar aggression makes each bar Jamal spits on “Work Harder” harder than the last one, making it damn near impossible to figure out which line impresses you the most, and that’s what makes him stand out.
Whether he’s rhyming about about his struggles as an artist, a person, his own experiences or simply boasting about how nice he is in the booth, Jamal is going to find a creative way to say what he’s thinking about especially with lines like “Started from the bottom had to network / Now she wanna give a n**** neck work / Ever since she seen my gross, she do it so gross cause she found out my net worth.” When looking at the video, you get the idea that the director Ralph Laurence Mariano aimed was to show no matter where you see Eric Jamal in California or on social media, the upcoming hip hop artist is never hardly working, but is always working hard on ever bar he creates.
