The Districts had a huge 2017, to say the least. Last fall into winter, the group toured the US behind 2017 LP Popular Manipulations, backed indie cult legend Daniel Johnston at the legendary Tower Theater, and ended the year with a pair of sold out New Year’s Eve shows at Johnny Brenda’s. Now, ahead of a US tour with Chicago rockers Twin Peaks, The Districts release new single “Nighttime Girls.”

Set to the backdrop of Philly nightlife, vocalist/guitarist Rob Grote reminds us of inescapable aspects of life that come with being in your 20’s. Change and acceptance engulf the track, an extension of topics explored on Popular Manipulations. Through a grainy filter, Grote wails, “Wasted memory, pressing down on me, taking all my time,” followed by, “I go out in the night time, to fill a hole in my heart.”

Unlike some of the band’s earlier, rough-hewn work, “Nighttime Girls” comes off as more polished and refined, a divisive move in the eyes of some fans. While uninteresting to some, this is The Districts continuing to hone their sound.

“Nighttime Girls” is set to appear on a 7″ along with B-Side “Soft Auxiliary,” out March 9th. Stream the track below and pre-order the physical copy via Bandcamp.
