Philadelphia’s legendary hip-hop crew The Roots mixed their old-school party rocking sound with a recap of the Pyongyang Olympics on Friday’s broadcast of “The Tonight Show.”
The group’s lead MC Black Thought, aka Tariq Trotter, brought his fierce rhymes over a speedy Questlove beat as he referenced snowboarding champions Red Gerard and Chloe Kim as well as figure skating brother and sister Alex and Maia Shibutani, known as “The Shib Sibs.” Trotter even mentioned Tonga’s flag bearer Pita Taufatofua.
