MINT is driven by sheer, unfiltered energy on Demo Two
MINT first appeared on our radar at the tail end of 2017 with a collection of standout demos released on Bandcamp. The songs were unignorable, but the band itself has remained a bit of a mystery.
Now, MINT is back with four more demos in their distinctive loud, unabashed punk style. The Philly four-piece record in Kensington, but have not shared any future plans for their music. We know simply that the band members’ are Jeff on guitar, Tom on bass, Steve on drums, and Zoë on vocals.
Reached for comment via email, MINT replied simply:
“Guided by the auspicious symbol of the joker, we consume large quantities of Listerine when composing new music in order to connect with the wildcard within. MENTA = MENTE.”
As cryptic as that may be, MINT’s music feels real and grounded, at least in the Bandcamp world. The four songs in the new set of demos are concise but dynamic, driven by sheer, unfiltered energy in the vein of 90s riot grrrl but with a fresh urgency that fits our time. Let’s hope we find out more about MINT soon.
