Nervous Dater and Eight will open for Hop Along at Union Transfer this May; Hop Along will play Free at Noon next week
Anticipation for Hop Along‘s triumphant return is building quickly. The band has now shared three singles from their forthcoming album Bark Your Head Off, Dog — if you haven’t already been listening to “How Simple,” “Not Abel,” and “Prior Things,” I kindly suggest that you do that right now. The full album comes out next Friday, April 6.
Even with three new Hop Along tunes to jam to, a bit of mystery remained, as the band’s big hometown show in May was the only date on their upcoming tour that didn’t have support listed. Now, we finally know who’s gonna be opening up the show — or should I say, tearing the stage up before Hop Along even sets foot on it, because that’s what Nervous Dater and Eight are sure to do.
Nervous Dater hails from Brooklyn, and their first LP, Don’t Be a Stranger, released last fall, is pure indie rock-meets-emo goodness. Eight is already familiar to the Philly scene, and though they can often be found playing shows around town, this’ll be a bigger stage than they usually inhabit. Eight released a wonderful power-punk-flavored self-titled EP last fall.
The big gig happens Saturday, May 19 at Union Transfer. Find more information on the XPN Concert Calendar and consider getting your tickets before they’re gone. Hop Along will celebrate their released day by playing next Friday’s Free at Noon Doubleheader along with Caroline Rose — RSVP here.
