Vexxed’s new music video “Heaven’s Away Team” will draw you into an unknown dimension
Philly electronic pop trio Vexxed released a new music video titled “Heaven’s Away Team” that will leave you in a fuzzy yet groovy indica haze, visually and mentally. To me, the song sounds like something the Mile High Club and Mac Demarco would create if they were to go camping together while on shrooms. The content of the actual clip is off-putting and the lyrics are pretty dark; in one part, the trio sings “it’s too late / this is our fate” while showing skeletons in the ground and a kid stuck in quicksand.
The psychedelic fuzziness of video is created using a variety of different lighting and array of cool toned colors layered on top, mimicking the effects of an actual trip. The use of some smooth synths and calming electric beats do a pretty good job contrasting the overall video. That downtempo of the beat and bass line sets that chill tone nicely.
Vexxed is comprised of singer-songwriter Lucy Stone (whose resume also includes DRGN King, Son Little and more) as well as Max Steen (Cold Fronts) and Zach Sewall (Grave Goods). Look out for the band’s upcoming EP Thank You Sooo Much, dropping May 4th. In the meantime, watch Vexxed’s trip-inducing new music video “Heaven’s Away Team” and get drawn into an unknown dimension.
