Watch Vacationer’s new trip-inducing music video “Magnetism”
Philadelphia-rooted dream pop group Vacationer recently released a playful music video for “Magnetism,” a track from their third full length album Mindset, which is out today via Downtown Records. The roughly four minute video takes you on a ride with all the different shapes, colors, and characters. The song induces a feeling of utter tranquility while the simplistic visuals create a deeper meaning. The creator of the trippy animations, Raman Djafari, based the ideas and sketches on the way the music made him feel. He says:
“The airy and warm sound of “Magnetism” felt like a wholehearted hug, a genuine, uncynical and unbroken embrace between two people. Working on Magnetism became an exploration of the beauty that lies in fearlessly loving someone.”
Following up their 2014 album Relief, the foursome released multiple singles to hype up Mindset starting with “Magnetism” as well as “Strawberry Blonde and “Being Here”. The process of creating the twelve track collection was not easy for the group and on the way, they paired up with producer Daniel Schlett, who worked on Ghostface Killah’s 36 Seasons. Frontman Ken Vasoli’s goal was “to write songs that remind me how my brain needs to operate for my own wellbeing and happiness…the record’s filled with all these reminders that put me in a good mindset for the day,” which is where the title comes from.
Vacationer is embarking on a North American tour this summer and kicks off right here in good ole’ Philadelphia on July 13th at Union Transfer with LA duo SEGO, Spencer Petersen and Thomas Carroll. For more information, visit the XPN Concert Calendar.
