Two Philly indie rockers—Blushed and Secret Nudist Friends—released an exciting collab this week; a split EP called So Cool that showcases each band at their best.

On the first half, Blushed contribute three tracks of dreamy effects-laden surf rock that fall somewhere between Slowdive and the B-52s. The dynamic rave-up “Webcam” is a joyful high-point. Secret Nudist Friends fill out the latter half with three nuggets of funky garage rock driven by crisp guitar interplay and perfectly spacious production. Take a listen to closer “I Can’t Love Anyone” to hear some acid-drenched guitar noise worthy of Hendrix.

Taken as a whole the split is wonderfully cohesive. Though stylstically distinct, the bands’ common roots allow them to create a work greater than the sum of its parts; listen to So Cool below, and grab a tape at Bandcamp.
