Katie Ellen’s “Lighthouse” is a rousing anthem about perseverance
Philly indie rock four-piece Katie Ellen released a single called “Lighthouse” off their new EP, Still Life. After a note of ringing distortion, the song rips through some serious power chords, a pleasant thrumming in your chest.
You can picture frontwoman Anika Pyle perched in a lighthouse tower, squinting across dark waters, waiting for something. “Patient one, I always leave the light on / I can’t get nowhere when the going’s gone,” she wails ruefully in the chorus. Everything from her lyric writing to the tone of her voice has developed since her DIY days in the band Chumped.
Katie Ellen is currently touring with NY-based punk outfit Lemuria; dates and information can be found here. Listen to the new song “Lighthouse” below.
