Watch Andy Shauf perform in the woods at Pickathon; catch him solo at PhilaMOCA this fall
Last year, Canadian singer-songwriter Andy Shauf gave a wonderfully atmospheric performance of “Quite Like You” in the middle of the woods at the Pickathon Woods Stage. The lush, green setting complimented the acoustic instruments and the timbre of his voice. It all comes together with a vintage-y filter over a newly-released video which completes the aesthetic and matches the atmosphere of the music.
The song “Quite Like You” is an Andy Shauf favorite that comes from his 2016 album The Party, which is full of melancholy folk/pop songs that all take place at a party. The songs lyrics tell a story about an awkward love triangle that comes to light once everyone’s had a couple drinks. The song features a simplistic, 70s bass, catchy and minimal acoustic guitar, drums that keep the groove, and sparse keys and clarinets that beef up the melody periodically.
Fans of Andy Shauf are in for a treat, as he is currently on tour, with a November 25th stop in Philly at PhilaMOCA. The show is going to be a lot more intimate than his usual shows, all acoustic, and he’s promised to perform new material as well. You can get more information and tickets for that show at the XPN Concert Calendar. Be sure to also check out the lovely Pickathon performance down below.
