Ron Gallo returns with “It’s All Gonna Be OK,” the first single from Stardust Birthday Party
Nashville / Philly garage punk Ron Gallo announced the release of his sophomore album Stardust Birthday Party, out October 5th via New West. In a Facebook post, Gallo disclosed the life events that inspired the creation of the album, which centers around his internal human evolution.
“Stardust Birthday Party is about what is happening underneath all of this life stuff… It is about me sitting with myself for the first time and confronting the big question “WHAT AM I, REALLY?” It’s about the love and compassion for all things that enters when you find out you are nothing and everything. I think at one point I wanted to change the world, but now I know I can only change myself, or rather just strip away everything that is not me to reveal the only thing that’s ever been there.”
“It’s All Gonna Be OK” is a ridged spine, the spikes on a porcupine’s back. The weird leading guitar riff crawls a pentatonic scale, edging the line of discomfort. Gallo yells in list-form, paranoia evaporating into a dreamy trumpet outro, as if he’s placating his own fears.
Catch Ron Gallo at First Unitarian Church on November 10th. Info and tickets here.
