Trash Knife collects all their songs to date on new tape So Far…
Local punk outfit Trash Knife released their latest tape this week, the aptly titled So Far… The tape is a collection of the band’s work to-date. Out of the three releases on their own bandcamp page, the only track not to appear on previously released projects is tape-closer “She Shreds,” a fast banger admiring women who shred (and shares its name with a popular guitar magazine), vocalist Lauren belting, “she’s a shredder, real trend setter, you can’t catch her.”
On track “FDR” the lyrical content takes local nods, an homage to South Philly’s FDR Skatepark. In an interview with Skateboarding Blogzine “Sk8 Coach” when asked about how the band met, Lauren said “We all knew each other from raging at shows and skating.” The affection for the skatepark comes through on the track, plus the band recorded a portion of their “All Grown Up” music video at the skatepark.
The band’s rowdiness comes through in different styles throughout the tape. The transition from garage rock to punk on “Inna Funk” comes is seamless, and the abrasiveness of “Sick Of It” is visceral, matched by the energy of “I Need.”
The tape is out on local tape label Suicide Bong Tapes, and the band will have physical copies for sale at their Euro-Tour Kickoff show in early September. Stream the entire tape below.
