Amos Lee calls out crooks in his new single “Crooked” from his upcoming album My New Moon
With his upcoming record My New Moon set to be released next week on Dualtone Records, Amos Lee has released yet another powerful, yet heartfelt single titled “Crooked.” As of now, Lee has shared four out of the record’s ten tracks: “No More Darkness, No More Light”, “Hang On, Hang On”, “Dying White Light” and “Crooked.” Each track digs deep into some heavy subjects, especially from his personal life, and you can hear raw emotion radiating from his voice on every note.
With “Crooked,” the Philadelphia singer-songwriter touches on topics of what he describes as “propaganda, misinformation and lies.” The song is a little over two minutes, which is short, but it carries a message to be noted, saying: “Read a crooked headline on a crooked page / There’s a crooked leader on a crooked stage / He seems to think he’s standing tall / Turns out it’s all crooked y’all.”
His latest ten-song collection draws inspiration from many current events such as the survivors of Parkland, the violence in Charlottesville, as well as the relationships he has built with the people in Musicians on Call and the Wounded Warrior Project. According to a press release, Lee’s vision for the record is to use turbulent times as a tool to inspire, heal and to spread hope to the people listening.
With the new record, Amos Lee will be embarking on a tour from New York to California in the Fall. For more information, click here. Below, listen to “Crooked”.
