Kingsley Ibeneche returns with two suave and infectious new jams
A year after his last release, Camden-based singer songwriter Kingsley Ibeneche returns with two new singles “Encompass That” and “Kknees,” out on New York label Astro Nautico. With the help of producers Lee Clarke and Kevin Ripley, Kingsley was able to create two soulful pieces with infectious melodies and suave R&B vocals. “Encompass That” takes on a faster-pace than “Kknees,” hitting you with a collection of beats/sounds that work in harmony. At first, it sounds a little chaotic, but once you get settled in, you’ll begin to get lost in the vibrant funky melody. “Kknees” slows things down, mixing things up between spoken word and singing.
Following up on 2017’s CHi, Kingsley is planning on releasing an EP, a music video, and doing a series of live show sthis fall. Throughout the years, he has shared the stage with Travis Scott, James Blake, Halsey, and other big names. Kingsley will be performing at Moore College in Philadelphia next week on September 14th alongside 2016 NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest winner Gaelynn Lea, a folk singer/violinist as well as a public speaker and disability advocate. Kingsley is also set to hit Philly Music Fest on September 29th at World Cafe Live. For more information on both events, check out WXPN’s Concert Calendar.
