If you didn’t get enough of southern roots band Hiss Golden Messenger at XPNFest, you’re in luck: the band made an appearance on NPR’s show Mountain Stage, taped live at West Virginia’s Civic Center Little Theater. Lead vocalist M.C. Taylor is joined by guitarists Phil Cook and Josh Kaufman, bassist Michael Libramento and drummer J.T. Bates. The band pulled from every era of its expansive repertoire including their latest album Hallelujah Anyhow, and a brand new, never-heard-before song called “Happy Birthday,” which Taylor dedicated to his five-year-old daughter.

Hiss Golden Messenger has a Philly show at Union Transfer on December 19th; find tickets + info at the XPN Concert Calendar. Listen to the full set below via NPR.
