Japanese Breakfast shares two new songs for Polyvinyl 4-Track series
Awhile back, Philly favorite Japanese Breakfast recorded two lo-fi singles for Polyvinyl Record’s 4-Track Singles Series. The recordings were previously only released on vinyl, but now the two songs, “2042” and “Posing in Bondage,” are available to stream on Spotify.
Each participating artist in the series was tasked with using a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder to record two new songs. The result is a raw, demo-esque sound that, for Japanese Breakfast, serves as a reminder of Michelle Zauner’s capabilities as a solo performer when she’s not backed by her band. The songs were co-produced by Zauner and her band member Craig Hendrix in their Philadelphia studio. Listen below.
Japanese Breakfast will play a trio of New Year’s shows at Johnny Brenda’s on December 29, 30 and 31, with tickets still remaining for the second two dates. They will also play a free show at Dogfish Head’s Rehoboth Beach brewery on November 16. Find more information on all shows at the XPN Concert Calendar.
