Jazz critic Nate Chinen will discuss Playing Changes at Kelly Writers House
Leading jazz critic and journalist Nate Chinen is known for his work with The New York Times and NPR, as well as a long tenure writing for City Paper here in Philly, and his new book Playing Changes has received praise across the board. The title is a musical term that refers to the improvised navigation through a chord progression, and Chinen structures the book around this idea, painting rich portraiture of contemporary jazz through exploration of the ideology, theory and technology that has led to the evolution of jazz.
Chinen will discuss his the book at Kelly Writers House next Thursday, October 11th, in a panel moderated by Rolling Stone Writer and Penn professor Anthony De Curtis. The event is free and open to the public, and more information can be found here.
