The Bigness returns with endearingly sentimental video for “The Rest of the Sky”
The Bigness has remained relatively under the radar for the last year, and now we know why. The band has released a single from their third upcoming album What We Make, “The Rest of the Sky,” a track that wires itself into your brain with a catchy hook and bopping rhythms. Contrasting the upbeat instrumentals, the lyrics describe the frustration of feeling trapped in a mundane routine, the restrictions of a pattern that drains creative energy and passion.
The music video, directed by Danny Gevirtz and produced by Danie Harris, focuses on private, personal moments. The sentimental tone alternates between endearing and occasionally cheesy, though the scenes filmed at Philly dive Ortlieb’s are aesthetically pleasing — the curtain a deep, engulfing red, the lights twinkling gold, singer Kristin Bigness splashed in glitter. The quality and camerawork makes it feel more like a short film than a music video, which exemplifies The Bigness’ years of experience paying off in a skillfully executed release.
The band plays a record release gig on November 3 at Bourbon & Branch tickets + info here. Check out the music video below.
