SAD Marquise is in his feelings on “Unwanted”
Philly singer / MC SAD Marquise returns to the Philadelphia Bandcamp ecosystem with a new loosie called “Unwanted.”
The first thing we’ve heard from him since the introspective-yet-fun project SEAWORLD, it’s based around an 808-style beat and serene instrumental flourishes crafted on an iPhone 6, and Marquise’s autotuned voice circle around themes of abandonment and depression, but also the desire to overcome the emotional slump.
“You made me feel so unwanted / and you look so unbothered / leaving me in hot water” sings Marquise on the hook, but while the first verse finds him in his feelings post-rejection, the second verse launches into a renewed focus on his creative grind, finding music as a tool that can hasten healing.
