Dermot Kennedy is the NPR Slingshot Artist of the Year
Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy was announced as the winner of the NPR Slingshot Artist of the Year poll.
The competition ran from November 1st through November 15th, and fans of the NPR member stations in the VuHaus family were encouraged to vote for their favorite artist from the Slingshot Class of 2018, 40 artists curated by those stations and NPR.
Kennedy draws inspiration from the Irish singer-songwriter heritage, from Glen Hansard to Van Morrison, and released his debut EP Doves and Ravens in 2017, following it up this year with his second EP, Mike Dean Presents: Dermot Kennedy.
Below, listen to Kennedy’s August 2018 World Cafe session, featuring performances of four songs and a conversation with Talia Schlanger.
