Sadie Dupuis is celebrating the winter solstice with a new song. Though she’s been busy fronting her band Speedy Ortiz for most of 2018, Dupuis revived her solo project Sad13 in order to release the holiday tune, which has become an annual tradition for the Philly musician.
Called “no gift,” the track is not immediately recognizable as a holiday song aside from a brief synthesized “rum pa pum pum.” But that works in its favor — instead of a song filled with generic Christmas imagery, Dupuis gives us an illustration of her ideal holiday vacation, which involves blankets, TV and plenty of staying indoors.
