Body Spray joins the ranks of roller rink rockers in their “Edgy” video
Philadelphia noise / punk four-piece Body Spray follows the lineage of aggressive, dissonant artists from The Stooges to Mudhoney and Drive Like Jehu, all the way up to their present-day scene peers Pissed Jeans. Something else they do? Have a solid sense of humor about themselves, not unlike Matt Korvette and his PJ bandmates.
In their recent music video for “Edgy,” Body Spray joins another lineage: artists who have shot music videos in a roller rink (see also: Dr. Dog, Strand of Oaks, Beyoncé, Marilyn Manson…the list goes on). Set up in the middle of the floor, Body Spray is decked out in shades, bandannas, and studded leather as they’re lapped repeatedly by people who are much better at staying afoot than they. Instrument cables are tripped over, rockstar poses are fumbled, and as the video goes on, various band members and skaters swap places. Check it out below
“Edgy” is the opening track on Music to Fall Down To, Body Spray’s latest album, due out on March 17th; listen to two additional ragers from it below (“Still Swollen” and “New Smell”), grab a pre-order here, and see the band live on record release night at Ortlieb’s with Plot and Table. Tickets and more information on the show can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
