When she’s not leading Philly hard rockers Resilient, singer-songwriter Erin Fox releases solo music under her own name, which she describes as “dark folking indie.” Fox’s latest record Forbidden Youth was released last May, and now she’s back with a new video for the track “Tides” from that album.

Shot and edited by Abad Rosa, the video follows a buttoned-up Fox along the shoreline at sunset as she lets go of expectations and insecurities, becoming more and more true to herself as she sings that she’s “waiting for the tide turn.”

Fox shared on Facebook:

“This song is about that thing we all do when we see one of our peers and wonder if we’re doing the life thing right….well, you are and we all are because our journeys are meant to be different. Don’t be afraid to keep going. Don’t be afraid to keep doing what you love just because society tries to make you feel weird about it sometimes. Don’t feel bad because you don’t have a house, an suv, and/or four babies by the end of your twenties. It’s okay to keep doing what makes you feel alive and with purpose.”

Watch below, and listen to Forbidden Youth via Bandcamp. Erin Fox plays the Art Is Life street festival in Roxborough this Saturday, April 27. Find more information here.
