Listening to their new single “Humminbirds,” it’s easy to see why Yellowbird call themselves a “heavy-hearted folk rock band.” The four-piece from New Jersey have carved out a place for themselves in their local Asbury Park scene, and while they haven’t made it to Philly physically yet, their music is already leaving an impression.
“Humminbirds” is the second single Yellowbird has released recently, and it has all the makings of a good folk tune. Delicate and nostalgic, singer-songwriter Min Leigh sings of moving on from the past and becoming stronger as the song builds slowly, fizzling out with soft guitar. Listen below.
