Brandi Carlile makes sure you don’t forget Mother’s Day with new video for “The Mother”
Fresh off winning three Grammys in February, Seattle singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile has released the music video for By The Way, I Forgive You track “The Mother.” The video, which is dedicated to “every mother, everywhere,” opens with clips of mothers being woken up by their children. It then follows them through the innumerable things they do for their little ones in a single day. The video presents motherhood across cultures, ages, religions, and lifestyles.
Created by an all-female crew, the video in and of itself demonstrates how much mothers are able to accomplish. Coming just days before Mother’s Day, the video feels more than appropriate, and can serve as a reminder to sort out any last minute Mother’s Day plans, or just to call mom and say “thank you.”
The song “The Mother” details Carlile’s own experience being a parent, and she ends each verse by reminding listeners that through all the highs and lows of motherhood, she is proudly “the mother of Evangeline.” The video and song are complimentarily heartwarming. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself fighting back tears while you watch.
Check out the video below. Carlile will be at The Mann on Friday, September 6th with Mavis Staples. Find tickets and more information on the XPN Concert Calendar. Carlile’s Grammy winning album is out now By The Way, I Forgive You on Low Country Sound/Elektra Records.
