The Districts’ Rob Grote has released a new solo single to benefit The Yellowhammer Fund
Earlier this week, Rob Grote of The Districts released a new single called “Glitter”, through his solo project, Goat Mumbles. According to the Goat Mumbles Bandcamp page, all proceeds generated by the new track will go to The Yellowhammer Fund “to help those in need of abortions in Alabama.”
Grote released his first single under the Goat Mumbles name back in December — “Stag”. Like that song, “Glitter” finds Grote stepping out of the alt-rock format of The Districts’ records and into the realm of trippy synth-pop. His voice bobs and weaves through a tight web of shuffling drum machines and bouncing basslines until he finally breaks out into a bright falsetto at the chorus — “I want you to stay!”
Check out the new track below, and listen back to Goat Mumbles’ first single, “Stag.” The Districts’ last release was the two-sided single “Nighttime Girls / Soft Auxiliary” in March 2018.
