Under The First Floor Podcast releases new Mixtape Vol. 1 comp to benefit RAICES
The Under The First Floor Podcast is a series of lofi live sets and interviews of various bands and musicians recorded through a trusty Tascam 4-track. They have just released a compilation album featuring many of the performances over its lifetime, including many Philly acts such as Strawberry Runners, Yowler, Corey Flood, Radiator Hospital, TVO, MINT, as well as many others.
Podcast founder David Settle describes the tape as “sh*tty recordings of bands you like.” He organized the tape to begin with more mellow cuts and end with the most wild of the bunch, in the style of a traditional mix cassette. Of the Philly artists, each song stands on its own. Everything from the mellow stylings of Strawberry Runners’ “Breakup Song #2” and Yowler’s “Angel” to the fast and fuzzy rock sounds of Mint’s “Caught” sounds great, despite the lo-fi-ness.
The mixtape can be purchased as an old-fashioned cassette tape, mix CD or a digital download. If you live in the area, Settle has even graciously offered to deliver the album to you. All profits received from the mixtape will be donated to RAICES, a refugee and immigrant advocacy and education nonprofit. Check out or purchase the mixtape below.
