His Hometown: Explore Bruce Springsteen’s humble beginnings in an exhibit in Freehold, NJ
Whether you are a lifelong Bruce Springsteen fanatic or just someone with strong Jersey roots, you have to check out this upcoming exhibit in Freehold, NJ. Springsteen: His Hometown will recognize the unique impact growing up in Monmouth County had on the famed singer-songwriter. While Springsteen just released his 19th studio album Western Stars, has an upcoming 2020 tour scheduled, and an album with his E Street Band in the works, this exhibit focuses on his humble beginnings.
Some items of interest include historical documents mentioning Springsteen’s ancestors, specifically mentioning Alexander and John Springsteen who fought in the civil and revolutionary wars respectively. An original poster from his first band The Castiles, who were based in Freehold will be featured. Additionally, his mother Adele’s 1948 yearbook and family scrapbook are included; a total of 150 captivating artifacts will be on display.
The exhibit kicks off with a premiere party, “Dancing in the Dark,” on September 28th with performances by Bobby Bandiera and Joe Grushecky & the Houserockers. The event will be hosted by chief anchor for MSNBC, Brian Williams. The exhibit is held by the Monmouth County Historical Association at the MCHA museum on 70 Court St. in Freehold Borough.
All proceeds will go to the nonprofit, whose purpose is to preserve the unique history inherent to Monmouth County. Tickets for the VIP event are priced at $250 dollars and can be purchased here. Regular exhibit hours will begin the following day through 2020, with tickets also available for purchase on the MCHA’s website.
