Harmony Woods | still from video

Philly indie rockers Harmony Woods played a gig at PhilaMOCA last night, and singer-songwriter Sofia Verbilla included a cover of the boygenius song “Me and My Dog” in the band’s set. The supergroup of Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker, who are all well-known for their solo careers, boygenius formed last year and was met with instant acclaim.

“Me and My Dog,” one of the singles off the trio’s self-titled EP, features Bridgers on lead vocals. The original is a tough act to follow, but the song’s soaring melody is a perfect match for Verbilla. Harmony Woods has covered songs by artists like Mitski and Miley Cyrus in the past, and always manages to put their own captivating spin on the tunes. Watch a video, which also includes a performance of the Harmony Woods song “Ghosts,” below.

Harmony Woods plays Everybody Hits next Thursday, July 25, with Jetty Bones. Find more information on the XPN Concert Calendar. We’re looking forward to seeing boygenius member Lucy Dacus at the XPoNential Music Festival next Sunday; more info at xpnfest.org.
