The Lumineers are coming to town, but not till next summer
Next month, The Lumineers will release their album, III, and next year they’ll track around North America performing it. The Denver folk group will play BB&T Pavilion on Friday, June 5th. On one hand, it’s a real bummer that we have to wait so long to see them, but on the other, we have tons of time to learn the new album. The long wait for their show is far from ideal, but hey! At least they’re coming at all!
III is, surprisingly, the band’s third album. The album is divided into three chapters, each focusing on a different character from three generations of the same family. The characters are either addicts themselves, or are deeply affected by their family members’ addiction. It’s not lighthearted stuff, and all it’s the more impactful for it.
The album’s first chapter has already been shared. “Donna”, “Life in the City”, and “Gloria” all center around Gloria Sparks. Gloria is a new mother struggling with addiction and recognizing her illness’ effects on her health and marriage. The band has also shared the first part of chapter two, which is focused on Gloria’s grandson, Junior. The video for “It Wasn’t Easy to Be Happy for You” sees Junior encountering a mystery woman, who turns out to be a figment of his imagination. Watch the video below.
Tickets for The Lumineers’ show at BB&T Pavilion go on sale Friday, August 16th at 10 a.m. Find tickets and more information on the XPN Concert Calendar.
