Listen to the debut EP from Philly duo Love? said the Commander
Love? said the Commander is made up of Kate Hall and Chris Bishop, two extremely talented Philadelphians. Hall sings, plays guitar, violin, and percussion, while Bishop currently only has the guitar to his name. As a duo, Hall and Bishop create soaring, yet graceful songs. Their debut EP, titled A Million Miles Away, boats five such songs.
The EP’s title and opening track is the perfect introduction to Love? said the Commander. It showcases Hall and Bishop’s respective instrumental abilities as well as Hall’s commanding voice. Throughout the project she sings with intense passion and poise.
Where the title track is somber and contains a chilling violin solo, the following two tracks show the rougher side of the duo. Electric guitar marks both “Daily Routine” and “Static”, giving the perfectly polished band a bit of an edge. On “S.O.S.” they wed that edge with the sheen of the violin, which helps make the track a true highlight. The EP closes with the nearly-seven-minute “Transparent”. On it, Hall’s voice reaches new heights. It soars alongside Bishop’s guitar and both shoot straight for the heart. Listen to A Million Miles Away below.
