Take a mystical trip to the Pine Barrens with Carol Cleveland Sings in the “Something That Destroys You” video
Carol Cleveland Sings is back with a dreamy new song and video. “Something That Destroys You” is the psychedelic pop duo’s first new release since they shared their debut full-length album Effervescent Lure three years ago.
The project of Thomas Hughes and Gretchen Lohse, Carol Cleveland Sings has become known for its multimedia approach to songwriting, accompanying their innovative experimental songs with equally interesting visuals. The artists tell us that the video for the sparse and echoing “Something That Destroys You” is inspired by 1960s and 70s surrealist and psychedelic cinema. Set in the rustic beauty of New Jersey’s Pine Barrens, the video pairs nature scenes with stop-motion animation and singer-songwriter Lohse’s kaleidoscopic artwork, entwining the captivating sound with its visual journey.
