Live at the Library arts and activism series returns with ill Fated Natives
Live at the Library returns later this month for an afternoon of music and discussion. The new series hosted by Beyond the Bars and the Free Library of Philadelphia brings together activists and musicians to raise awareness about social issues while treating audiences to some local talent.
This month’s installment will take place in the music department of the Parkway Central Library on Saturday, October 19. The event will include a discussion led by guest speaker Mike O’Bryan of The Village of Arts and Humanities, a community arts organization in North Philly, as well as an intimate performance by local power trio ill Fated Natives.
Beyond the Bars is a nonprofit dedicated to teaching music to local youth who have been impacted by the incarceration system. Their partnership with the Free Library began with the inaugural Live at the Library last December, which included a performance by Chill Moody — watch a video report on the event via the Philadelphia Tribune.
