Cheerleader returns to the world of the living next year, shares vivid and vibrant “Chimera” video
We’ve just caught word that Philly’s Cheerleader will return with a new record in 2020. Out February 7, Almost Forever will be the follow-up to their 2015 debut The Sunshine of Your Youth, but will take them in a different direction musically and thematically, the band shared with FLOOD magazine. The new single “Chimera” and its accompanying video are out now.
Directed by Nicholas Brown, the band filmed the video for “Chimera” in a warehouse on the outskirts of Toronto, enlisting a roster of guest artists to slowly fill the empty white space with bright splashes of paint. “Chimera” follows their last single and video, “Bang Bang,” which was released back in the spring.
“In contrast to the really involved animation and effects in the last video, we wanted to strip it back and do something really simple for ‘Chimera,'” Cheerleader frontman Joseph Haller writes on Facebook. “Nicholas nailed it–plus, I think everyone enjoyed covering me in paint for an afternoon.” Watch the video below.
