DJ Delish declares Summer’s OVAH on new EP
Back in July, Philadelphia’s DJ Delish released her latest exploration of dancefloor sounds: Khadijah Vol. 1 was a swift set of house and two-step beats mixed alluring melodic textures and catchy vocal elements (particularly on the Tabu-featured “BB”). This month, Delish returns with the sequel: Khadijah Vol. 2: Summer’s OVAH.
Despite the timing, there’s not an overt summer / fall aesthetic in these releases: both sound like you dipped into a sick house party / party-where-the-DJ-spins-house, and those happen all around the calendar. What is different this time is a more expansive palette — the beats feel bigger and bolder, and Delish brings the melodic elements of the set even further to the front, particularly the chopped-up 80s saxophone on the early-set banger “Watch!”
Released independently on Bandcamp, like all of her work, the set is described as “an elaboration on DJ Delish’s practice as she explores a range of club-oriented tracks and experimentations with off-kilter, broken-beat stylings.” Take a listen below.
