Square Peg Round Hole suspends reality in the “Gold Makes Blind” video
Philly’s Square Peg Round Hole will release its next full-length album Branches next month, and ahead of the release the experimental instrumental trio has shared a video for the lead single “Gold Makes Blind.” Directed and edited by Square peg percussionist Evan Chapman, the video features dancers and bright, twisting lights that are frozen in midair, an eerie match for the soft and ambient song.
The band worked with collaborators including chamber music group Variant 6 and alt-pop duo Gracie and Rachel on the new record, adding vocals to their instrumental tracks for the first time. Branches will be out November 8 via National Sawdust Tracks, and Square Peg Round Hole will play Johnny Brenda’s with Nina Keith and Son Step on Nov. 9.
