Andy Shauf announces new album The Neon Skyline, playing Union Transfer next spring
Andy Shauf will return with a new album in 2020. The Neon Skyline, out January 24, will be the Canadian singer-songwriter’s sixth solo full-length release and the follow-up to his 2016 breakthrough album The Party; since then he’s spent time playing with his other project Foxwarren. Shauf also announced a tour which includes a show at Union Transfer on May 1 with Faye Webster.
The 11 songs on the new album were all written, performed, arranged and produced by Shauf and follow an interconnected storyline that takes place over the course of an evening at a bar. The jazz-inspired lead single “Things I Do,” out now, helps set the scene.
According to a press release, “[Shauf’s] characters are all sympathetic here, people who share countless inside jokes, shots, and life-or-death musings when the night gets hazy… The songs on The Neon Skyline ultimately take solace in accepting that life goes on and things will be okay.”
