Worldtown Soundsystem returns to celebrate “Freedom”
Body-moving house music collective Worldtown Soundsystem is back with their latest rager, a song called “Freedom” that on its surface is about love and intimacy, the point of personal connection and comfort where partners are simply free to be themselves around one another. But for the release party, this weekend at Warehouse on Watts, the band is asking fans to think more conceptually about the idea of freedom.
The party is themed “Waves,” and it’s a joint release show with fellow Philadelphians Tweed. In addition to performers and DJs, there will be two instillations by Philly artist Julia Lehman where attendees will be asked to declare what freedom means to them, and why water is important to them. Organizers say a portion of the proceeds from the party will be donated to Charity Water, which helps people in need clean water access.
Tickets and details on the concert can be found here; listen to “Freedom” below.
