With two days to go before its grand opening, Philly venue The Ave Live announced this afternoon that all systems are not yet operational, and the space won’t open its doors until next month.

As a result, this Friday’s concert with Yasiin Bey is being postponed, as well as its concert with Method Man and Redman on November 23rd. New dates have not been announced yet, but the venue says that it hopes to get them on the calendar for December. Refunds are available for ticketholders who are unable to make the rescheduled dates.

It is unclear if any of the Philly openers for the Yasiin Bey show are still on board to perform. Reef the Lost Cauze took to Instagram this morning laying out his frustrations with the event, including un-returned emails and a visit to the space that revealed “a shell of a venue that looked like it needed at least 3 more weeks to be prepared, certainly not 3 days.” He writes “I am disgusted, angry and disappointed that my name is even attached to this” and says “This show may indeed go on, at some point in time, but I’ll have no part of it.” For his part, Kuf Knotz has not commented.

Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, The Ave has been forced to push back its opening date by a couple of weeks. This unfortunately means we must postpone our first two shows with Yasiin Bey on 11/15 and Method Man + Redman on 11/23. We were very excited to kick off with these incredible artists whom we admire immensely, and are working hard with their management to solidify dates in December. We will have great news coming very shortly about the rescheduled dates with some added special guests. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the newly rescheduled shows. Refunds will be available at your initial point of purchase should you not be able to make the rescheduled performances. For assistance with any refunds, please email [email protected]. Thank you for understanding and we look forward to seeing you on the dancefloor!
