Philly’s own American Dinosaur kicked off today’s Free at Noon with a dose of afternoon rock ‘n’ roll. The four-piece debuted just a few years ago, but have that classic-meets-modern sound that makes their music seem familiar and refreshing all at once.

It’s been a few years since the band’s last EP, but in the fall they announced a forthcoming album and released the single “Jail Song.” This week the band returned with “Burn Carolina,” and showed up at World Cafe Live ready to treat the audience to their first live listen of the new songs, plus a few older ones drawn from their growing catalogue.

American Dinosaur’s opening set was short and sweet, saving plenty of time for The Peace Creeps to play, but full of the energy and passion that makes us eager to hear more from the band. Keep up-to-date with their forthcoming album at americandinosaur.us.
