Gladie finds optimism in grief on “When You Leave The Sun”
Gladie just shared “When You Leave The Sun,” the second single from their forthcoming debut album Safe Sins, which comes out at the end of the month. Comprised of Augusta Koch from Cayetana and Matt Schimelfenig from Three Man Cannon, the project sees the two established Philly musicians exploring new and different sounds, expectation-free. We previously heard “A Place Far Different” last month.
The new track ties into the overarching themes of the album, which tackles the range of emotions a person goes through while grieving. “I wanted ‘When You Leave The Sun’ to express the moments of optimism you can experience even in the midst of a difficult situation,” Koch shared in a press release.
“We wanted to showcase the full range that someone could feel about a particular loss, and how these phases can go in circles and change,” Koch said previously about Safe Sins. “One day, you could experience all of those things and come up with some type of closure, but then the next day feel differently. There’s never really a clean conclusion.”
Safe Sins will be released on February 28 via Lame-O Records — pre-order it here. Gladie will tour North America in support of the new album this spring, wrapping up with a hometown show at Boot & Saddle on April 10. Find tickets and more information on the XPN Concert Calendar.
